Gar Wood Society

For nearly fifty years, Garwood enthusiasts have been forced to speculate about the production history of their favorite boat builder. Basic information related to peak year production, sales of specific designs, hull numbering systems and total sales volume have been a mystery that has frustrated Gar Wood owners. Even the most knowledgeable marine historians could only guess about the answers to those most basic questions about one of America's most prestigious boat builders.

When the Gar Wood Boat Division closed its door in 1947, it was viewed as just another business casualty in the turbulent post World War II period. It was a time of shortages and several boat builders competing for a relatively small market. Understandably, there was little interest in preserving the factory production records of a failed boat company. For more information, contact Southern Crown Boatworks.
